Yoga Nidra

Exciting news incoming……I just completed my Yoga Nidra training and would love to share a little about what it is and why i’m adding this to my toolbox.
So what the fuck is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra isn’t yoga in the way many people imagine. There’s no movement and no postures. It’s a guided practice that invites the body and mind into a very particular state of rest… just like sound does 🌟
We are all familiar with that moment just before sleep, or just as you’re waking, when you’re not fully awake and not fully asleep where your awareness becomes spacious, your body relaxes and you can get really trippy dreams (well i do anyway!!)
That in between place is the state of Yoga Nidra (Alpha/Theta brainwaves) It’s about resting deeply while staying aware. In that sense, yoga nidra is actually about awakening!!! (just like sound……i bloody love this!)
When the body is supported and still, it’s much easier to access this state without effort and the gentle guidance given in the Yoga Nidra helps you arrive there.
When we can stay in this inbetween state (Alpha/Theta), the nervous system can settle and the brain can become more flexible (neuro plasticity). This is why Yoga Nidra and Sound are great for rest, recovery, and change that happens without force.
For me, pairing Yoga Nidra with sound feels very natural as both practices work through the same territory. Sound and Yoga Nidra both guide the system toward slower brainwave states, often associated with deep rest, imagination, creativity and integration.
Yoga Nidra gives the mind something simple and steady to rest with and the sound supports the body to soften making it easier to drop beneath surface tension and thinking, without having to “do” anything.
Of course , I’m still finding my voice with this work, and I’m allowing it to unfold slowly. It feels like a meaningful extension of what I already offer, both practices supporting deep rest without effort, allowing the body and nervous system to settle in their own way.
